Enter the Gutenberg Editor

The new WordPress editor is about to be released into the wild. The WordPress version 4.9.8 will Introduce “Try Gutenberg” Callout that will prompt an opt-in to this editor.

Keep in mind this is still in Beta and a lot of plugins have not updated to work with this editor. At this moment there isn’t a list of what plugins may not work.

The new WordPress editor is about to be released into the wild. WordPress 4.9.8 will Introduce “Try Gutenberg” Callout that will prompt an opt-in to this editor. The goal is to have the Gutenberg editor in the core of WordPress 5.0 with a classic editor option.

There are some good points about this new editor. The ability to layout your posts visually and actually align images are really cool! Even if you opt-in for this editor you can still choose Classic editor if you need it.

I recommend trying the opt-in to get an idea of what is coming. If you like it your well written posts will be saved for the future! For more details about the Gutenberg project can be found on https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/.

It does have some room for improvements but it does have a better approach to writing that feels like a desktop word doc.

  1. I’m sure it’ll work fantastic with WP-Types Toolset right out of the box ‘insert sarcasm emoji’ here. :]

    • Hi Jason!

Thanks for your comment. The Toolset team have been working on Gutenberg blocks and they are there to use:

The best things to do is use a test site and give any bugs or feedback to that team as I am sure things will get ironed out as this progresses.
